2023 SWIM TEAM
The ABC Swim Team promotes fun and fitness in a friendly, semi-competitive environment. Our head coach, Rich Steckhahn, will lead our swimmers. The ABC Swim team will take part in meets at local beach clubs, as well as host our own events at the Allenhurst Beach Club Pool. We look forward to another great season! Sign up below!
Registration for swim team is $100 per swimmer. Swimmers will be expected to purchase a team swim suit as well. Swim caps will be provided.
Swim team is available for ages 5-13. Swimmers 6 and under must swim a minimum of a half-length of the pool unassisted and above water to be eligible. Swimmers 7 and up must swim a full continuous length of the pool unassisted. Swimmers 7 and up will be expected to swim freestyle and breaststroke. If you are unsure of your child’s abilities, one of the swim coaches will gladly evaluate your child. Practice focuses on stroke development, endurance, and fundamentals of team swimming.
Swimmers should be prepared for practice with goggles, a swim cap (required for swimmers with hair longer than chin length), towel, and a suit. Please make sure that all gear is labeled.
Swim meets take place on weekday nights. Warmups typically begin at 5:30, with the meet starting at 6. There will be 4-6 swim meets during the month of July / first week of August. Swim meets will take place at both Allenhurst and other local beach/pool clubs. All swimmers will swim in at least two races each meet. Relay teams will be made up of the fastest swimmers in each age group.
Swim season begins 7/5 and ends 8/8. Practices are Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00PM to 4:00PM. Swimmers will organize in the pavilion upon Rec. Camp dismissal.
